PRAYER FOR THE GOLD COAST. (November - December 2024)

 As we celebrate the wonder of the incarnation – let us give thanks

 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
    and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
    to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness
    from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.    Isaiah 9:6-7

 Take time in meditation and listening prayer and allow this scripture to captivate your heart afresh.

Give thanks

  • That Jesus – Immanuel (God with us) has promised to be with us as we carry out the great commission, even to the end of the age.
  • That Jesus is the lamb slain from the creation of the world.
  • That Jesus is WonderfulCounsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of 
  • That Jesus is coming again as King and judge.

Pray for unity and synergy for the Body of Christ as we seek an increase of His Kingdom and His justice, righteousness and peace in our city.

 In each congregation as we contemplate and celebrate the incarnation

Pray that:

  • we might be filled with wonder afresh at the amazing reality that the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us
  • we might catch in the depths of our hearts that Jesus has come from the bosom of the Father to make Him known.
  • We might be apprehended and inspired by the model of our servant King who gave himself up for our sakes.

CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE OTHER PASTORS AND CHURCHES IN YOUR REGION EACH WEEK

GIVE THANKS:

  • For the many baptisms and conversions to Christ taking place across the city. May these people be drawn more and more to Christ and be nurtured and discipled well.
  • For the impact and stirring of the people of God through the Awakening Australia in Brisbane and for the many who came to know Christ through this event.

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.  (2 Cor 6:2

 

PRAYER OVER THE BODY OF CHRIST IN THE CITY & AUSTRALIA

 Lord, we remember the words of Revelation 3:2-3: “Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent.”

We confess, Lord, that we have been asleep to the truth, comfortable in our complacency, and distracted by the things of this world. Forgive us, Father, for our neglect of Your call to love, holiness and mission.

 Awaken us, O God, to the reality of Your presence and the urgency of Your Kingdom. Stir our spirits, revive our hearts, and renew our minds. Awaken the Gold Coast, Lord.        Awaken Your people. Awaken us to your goodness, to your righteousness, to Your mission, to the needs of the lost and the hurting. May we not be found asleep when You call, but ready and eager to do Your will.  In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

  • THE MAYOR’S CHRISTMAS CAROLS.      30TH November 6pm -8pm                       In its 13th year, City of GC Mayor’s Christmas Carols is being staged at the HOTA Outdoor Stage and HOTA Parklands

Free tickets to the HOTA Outdoor Stage will be available in two releases, on 9am Monday 18 November and 7pm Tuesday 19 November. The ticketing link will be shared on Monday 18 November. For those who miss out on tickets, we’re activating the HOTA Parklands from 4pm with large screens broadcasting the event, free family entertainment and delicious food trucks! No tickets are required for this area.

  • CAROLS NIGHTS and CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS HELD ACROSS THE CITY at SCHOOLS, LOCAL COMMUNITIES and CHURCHES
  • CHURCH INITIATIVES INTO THE WIDER COMMUNITY – Hampers, Community Lunches etc.

It would be great to cover these events in prayer.

  • Pray that in the midst of the carols, consumerism, partying, and family celebrations the gospel of Christ will be proclaimed boldly and that the Holy Spirit will cause the Gospel to be heard and become embedded in hearts all across our city.
  • For a mantle of protection and peace to be over the Gold Coast.
  • For our Chaplains and Red frogs and Evangelistic teams to be in the right place at the right time.
  • For many to be drawn to Christ and to step into new life in Him.
  • Pray for the sending out of the workers for the harvest – A holy boldness to be upon God’s people that we might represent Him well in this season and we might be carriers of His good news.

PRAYER FOR LEADERS IN THE CITY

  • Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and peace to settle upon all those in authority and in leadership, whether in churches or businesses, elected officials or educators.
  • Pray particularly for our newly elected state parliament members. That as they step into their role they will know your wisdom, strengthening and protection.
  • We pray for Your hand of protection over our leaders and their families and that they will be full of health, grace, and wisdom to navigate all that is in front of them.          
  • Pray for the exposing of unrighteousness and compromise and for the raising up of Godly servant leaders in every sphere of the city’s life.

 PRAYER FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

  • That peace and safety will be like a covering over our City.
  • That holiday makers will be refreshed and find new hope, fresh vision and above all LIFE. May there be many sovereign encounters with our King – many drawn to think again about the purpose of life.- many drawn to Christ.
  • May family life be restored and reconciliations within family and marriages be the order of the day.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

 Isaiah 60:18   No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.

  • Pray for the comfort and peace for all the women and children who walk through this nightmare and for the lifting off and the breaking down of all trauma and fear.
  • Pray for strengthening and refreshing of all staff and volunteers who are working with domestic violence victims.
  • Pray for wisdom, discernment & understanding for all staff when dealing with clients.
  • Pray for the leadership of agencies and ministries working in this area to receive new ideas and creative strategies for ways to respond to domestic violence on the Gold Coast.
  • Confession and repentance is needed on behalf of the collective church of the city for where domestic violence has been tolerated or overlooked within the church.
