About the Bahamas
Located between Florida and Cuba, the Bahamas are made up of 700 coral islands, of which 40 are inhabited. Tourism drives the economy and the region functions as a tax haven for many. Thousands of illegal Haitian refugees call the nation home and are amongst the nation’s poorest people. This poverty is in stark contrast to the nation’s wealth. The Bahamas are one of the wealthiest nations in the Caribbean. Although the nation has a strong Christian legacy and political leaders publicly declare their faith in Christ, materialism is common and standards of morality are decreasing.
Problems to solved
- Violent crime
- Christian commitment is low. Pray for revival, discipleship, pastoral care and a missionary vison among believers. Pray for unity amongst the Church and for the work of the Bahamas Christian Council.
Signs of hope
The nation has a strong Christian legacy and many political leaders who profess their faith in Christ.
